Walking in the air
We are delighted to celebrate the
outstanding academic achievement of
one of our Year 10 students, Mohammed
Zaman of 10W. Mohammed has earned a
bronze medal in the prestigious Hamilton
Olympiad, a remarkable accomplishment
that places him among the very best young
mathematicians in the country.
The Hamilton Olympiad is the follow-on
round for high performing students in the
Year 10 Maths Challenge; qualification
alone is a significant feat, as only a select
group of the highest scorers are invited
to take part. To then go on and secure a
medal requires exceptional problem-solving
ability, resilience, and deep mathematical
insight. Mohammed’s success
demonstrates not only his talent but also
his dedication and perseverance.
In recognition of his success, Mohammed
was presented with a medal along with
a prize book titled Introductory Algebra;
though, as those familiar with Olympiad
mathematics will appreciate, there was
nothing introductory about it. The book
reflects the advanced and demanding
nature of the material tackled by students
at this level.
Mohammed’s accomplishment is a
testament to his hard work, intellectual
curiosity, and passion for mathematics. We
are incredibly proud of his success and
look forward to seeing what he achieves
next. He is a fantastic role model for
aspiring mathematicians across the school.
Congratulations, Mohammed.

Zaman, Year 10
Snow days have their unique buzz
of excitement for both students
and teachers, and often include
finding time to take a sledge to the
park, engaging in an imprompu
snowball fight with family members
in the back garden, or having a
go at building a snowman. Some
students have shared images of
their snowflake creations from
those few stolen winter days
earlier this year.
