BADMINTON The School Badminton Teams have seen huge success this season with both sides claiming the North Birmingham Champions trophy, the first time the school has claimed this title in a decade. All the boys have shown exceptional levels of excellence, sportsmanship, perseverance and resilience throughout the season. The Under 14 team played six matches, winning five of them. Having lost only once meant they were top of the league with 16 points; their nearest rival was nine points adrift of them. The Under 16 team remained undefeated throughout the league, with their nearest rival ten points adrift of them. Both teams are eager to retain their titles next year. Congratulations to both teams and Mr Gallagher for a fantastic season. BADMINTON SUCCESS Congratulations to the Key Stage 4 Badminton Team who were victorious in their first league game of the season. CRICKET SUPER 8 CUP CHAMPIONS The HGS Year 7 Cricket team beat George Dixon in the Birmingham Schools Super 8 Cup Final at the BTS Cricket ground. HGS scored 63 for 1 wicket, Arjun Toor scored 20 and had to retire and Farhaan Choudhury scored 19 runs. The bowling from HGS was too strong for George Dixon with all the bowlers limiting the number of runs that George Dixon could get. Notably, Arjun Toor bowled really well with 2 wickets for 1 run and Rayyan Ahmed got 2 wickets for 2 runs. In the field there were three run outs demonstrating the strong team ethic. George Dixon scored 25 all out. A great team effort and worthy winners. 22
