Welcome from the Headmaster Yet again and as with our termly Newsletters, our Weekly E-Newsletters and Schoolcomms emails this edition of The Bridge Magazine is packed with wonderful articles, features, reports and stories of success, achievement and enjoyment. It comes to something when an Ofsted Inspector asks if there are any jobs going as they would love to work here! They thought our students and staff were wonderful – and they are right! This is what HGS is about and it makes me very proud and happy to be the Head of such a great institution. We are making steady progress with the discussions, negotiations and planning for our Academy conversion and joining of the King Edward VI Multi Academy Trust. It has been and indeed still is a complicated and lengthy process involving our Governors, Staff, Parents, Students and those of the King Edward VI Foundation. It also involves teams of Solicitors, the Department for Education and the Education Funding Agency. The plan is still to convert to Academy status, join the King Edward VI Multi Academy Trust and the King Edward VI Foundation on 1st September 2017. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Elaine Brown, Mr Adam Kilcullen as well as Rebecca England and Gus MacDonald at Ammac Design for all their expertise and support in bringing this publication to print.
