We enjoyed solos by Anu Adeleye, Tommy Lawther, Keir Msuya, Taylor Bewry, Rohan De, Hasnain Jafar and Joe Feiven (winner of HGS Young Musician of the Year 2016), and selection of pieces from our keyboard, woodwind and guitar ensembles. Harmonie are a concert band based in Solihull and directed by the Solihull Music Service woodwind teacher Chris Davies. The Quartet was given two ten- minute slots in both halves of the concert and performed a range of works over a 400-year period. The boys played confidently and were warmly received by the audience and band. HGS YOUNG MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2017 – 4TH MAY Eight of the finest musicians competed on Thursday 4th May for the accolade HGS Young Musician of the Year 2017. The audience was treated to high quality performances from Khanh Pham (Piano), Godfrey Leung (Violin), Isaac Minto (Clarinet), Seth Griffiths (Classical Guitar), Balkaar Bhopal (Piano), Karl Frater (Clarinet), Brandon Masih (Classical Guitar) and Robert Frater (Classical Guitar). It would be remiss of me not to give a huge thanks to all of the instrumental teachers who work so hard with our students. This year we also say a fond farewell to Victoria Strudwick who has taught Violin and Viola at HGS for the past 5 years. We wish her every success for the future.
