25 Sixth form students joined the political arena by having their own “Mock General Election” in the sixth form centre on Friday May 12th. Each of the five main political parties was represented by a student who then presented the key points of their manifesto to a packed sixth form café area. A number of staff also attended the hustings which led to some high quality questioning from a politically literate audience. The students then took part in a secret ballot and the results were as follows: 180 votes were cast which was a turnout of 76% Josef Feiven, The Labour Party - 37 Aadam Varsani, The Green Party - 13 Teny Kuti, The Conservative Party - 61 Suraj Sanhi, The Liberal Democratic Party - 34 UKIP – Daniel Ahmed - 21 Spoilt papers - 14 The Conservative Party are therefore declared as the winners of the HGS Sixth Form Mock election.
