CRICKET CLUB REPORT New 1st team captain Sayyad Liquat faced a big problem, even before the 2016 season started. Many players from the previous year had left for pastures new, so he had to recruit a new core to start the season. This he quickly did and they soon bonded into a formidable machine and by the end of the season had won 90% of their matches. Stars of the show were Ali Ahmed who accumulated 670 runs in the season, with a top score of 96 and Haleem Qasim with a 33 wicket haul, but also a knock of 147 not out in the final game. They were hoping for promotion into Div. 6 of the Warwickshire League but as one of their last games was cancelled, they gained no points, so were left frustratingly 2 points short of promotion and 6 points short of 1st spot. For the first time, the team entered the T20 competition and after an unbeaten run, contested the final at Edgbaston, and actually won the cup after a thrilling game and wonderful experience. Nasir Azzam who took over from Sayyad as 2nd Team captain also had pre season problems and the team could not get into gear in the 1st half of the season. They then turned a corner, started winning matches and ended up with in 4th position. Shabir Khan top scored with 372 runs and Haroon Majid was top wicket taker with 30. Although they too missed promotion they feel ready for a good 2017 campaign. Capt.
