Hezron Brown, NCS Engagement Co-ordinator from the West Midlands visited school recently to congratulate our students on their efforts last summer. Last year 65 students from Handsworth Grammar School took part in the programme and as a result of our success we have been appointed a Champion School. Students from Year 11 and Year 12 took part in outdoor residential trips across the country, working alongside students from other schools, and then developed their skills through a community programme over a two- week period. Our students reported that they had learnt many new skills while taking part in the programme as well as making new friends and having great fun. HGS has been presented with two certificates acknowledging our students’ achievements with the National Citizen Service, both signed by the Prime Minister Mrs Theresa May. Congratulations to all involved in the programme – this is a great achievement.
