A Level Success at King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School
King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School is pleased to celebrate the achievements of its Year 13 students in this summer’s A Level examinations and the wide range of opportunities that now lie ahead for them.
Students have achieved a strong set of results, with 31% of all grades awarded at A or A*, 60% at A-B*, and 81% at A-C*. An exceptional five students achieved straight A* grades, while 24 students secured all A* and A grades, reflecting the academic commitment, determination and ambition that characterise the school community.
Students will now be progressing to a wide range of destinations, including the University of Cambridge, the University of Birmingham, the University of Warwick, London School of Economics, Loughborough University, the University of Nottingham, the University of Manchester, Durham University and Aston University.
The school is proud of the efforts and achievements of this cohort. Throughout their time at Handsworth Grammar School, these young people have demonstrated resilience, perseverance and maturity, while also making a significant contribution to the wider life of the school through leadership, enrichment activities, sport, music and community service.
Whatever their individual results, students have much to be proud of. As they embark on the next stage of their journeys, everyone at HGS wishes them every success and looks forward to hearing about their future accomplishments.

“Congratulations to all our students on their A Level results. They have been a wonderful year group to work with and have made a tremendous contribution to the life of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
These results reflect years of hard work, perseverance and commitment. Our students have embraced the many opportunities available to them at HGS and should be proud of the progress they have made, the relationships they have built and the contributions they have made to our school community.
Results day can bring a range of emotions, and we recognise that students will be following different pathways as they move on to the next stage of their lives. We remain committed to supporting every student as they continue their journey, whether that is through university, apprenticeships, employment or other opportunities.
I am confident that they leave us well prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and that they will continue to make a positive contribution to the communities and organisations they become part of. We look forward to hearing about their future successes and hope that many will return to HGS in years to come to inspire and support future generations of students.
