Basketball Success
The Year 8 and 9 Basketball team enjoyed a fine 42-27 victory in their match against a physically combative Aston Manor on Thursday 2nd March.
With a large and keen squad to choose from, team coaches Mr Conway and Mr King decided to allow every player some court time, and although this created some disruption, it allowed a number of players to make their debuts for the school team.
There were particular contributions from Amar Rupra from 9G who scored a magnificent basket literally in the last two seconds of the third quarter from way outside the key, and also important baskets from debutant Hashim Ul Haque from 9 A, and Kurun Kaushal from 8A. Much of the strong defensive work was performed admirably by Kijani Sullivan 9N, Shivam Kanda 9G and Jarnail Sehjal also in 9G.
This was a fine team performance, a great victory and just as importantly, an opportunity for a number of players to represent the school team.
