Under 12 Super 8’s Cricket Success

Our Year 7 Cricket team faced Fairfax School in the final of the Super 8 competition which was held at Nether Whitacre CC. Fairfax reached 48 for 5 in their 8 overs as our bowlers and fielders alike did not do themselves justice. We started the run chase steadily but still had some way to go as the final over was bowled. However I Qayyum scored 17 not out as he blasted four 4’s to enable HGS to be the winners and pick up the cup. Congratulations.

Yr 9 Badminton House Competition

With over 60 matches played in the heat of the sports hall we eventually had a House winner. It was a really tight tournament. The gap between 1st place and 4th place was 7 points. Henry came in 4th with 8 points, Nelson 3rd with 9 points, joint second William and Galahad on 12 points but the winners with 15 points were 9 Alfred.

Yr 9 House Basketball

This was a competition played in a good spirit but also in a very competitive manner. All Houses really thought they had a chance to win. It was a tight tournament with three Houses in contention for the title at the end. Henry, William and Galahad all had a chance to win. It rested upon the final match of the tournament with William playing Galahad. If William won there was a three way tie, if Galahad won they were the overall winners. Galahad went ahead with a Harry Virk three pointer, William then struck back with two quick baskets to go 4-3 up, in the final minute of the game Bilal Saleem scored to give Galahad a 6-4 win. An excellent competition with Galahad the overall winners. We look forward to next year.
