Holocaust Memorial Day

The Learning Hub currently hosts a display of books and leaflets to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. Holocaust Memorial Day is held on January 27th. This date was chosen because it was on January 27th 1945 that the largest Nazi death camp – Auschwitz was liberated. People accross the world use the day ro remember the victims of genocide, as an opportunity to remember the past and commit to creating a better future.

All items on the display can be borrowed – please feel free to drop in and have a look.

School Fund Contribution

Each academic year the School asks parents for a voluntary School Fund contribution of £30.  These contributions help us by allowing us to subsidise some of the School trips your son will go on and without which many could not happen.  It also contributes towards a number of extra curricular activities including sports day, music concerts and additional library books.

To ease the collection of the school fund we have introduced payment by standing order and a copy of the standing order form is attached to this letter.  Alternatively payment can be made by cash or cheque (made out to Handsworth Grammar School), which should be placed in an envelope on which is written your son’s name and form, and posted in the black payment box in the main foyer.

The staff and governors are extremely grateful to the parent body for the School Fund contributions that have been paid in the past and will be paid in the future:  it really does make a difference.
