FRENCH COVID RECOVERY PLAN

Year 10

EXAM

Your assessment will last for one hour and will take place as soon as possible during French lessons in September. You will be required to write a long essay (120 words) and a translation into French on the topic of holidays (module 5 in Studio)

Grammar/ language points that will be tested include:

Perfect tense- including être verbs and reflexives
Future tense
Conditional tense
Imperfect tense
The pluperfect tense
Modal verbs-pouvoir, devoir and vouloir in different tenses
Essay phrases such as après avoir+ pp, avant de+infin, en + present participle
Time phrases
More complex connectives eg alors que (whereas)
Si clauses and sequence of tenses (eg si j’avais beaucoup d’argent je voyagerais au Japon)
Interesting vocab eg stimulant not intéressant

Learn vocab from p118-119
Work through the writing practice section on p116-117
Work through the grammar points listed above in the grammar section from p206 onwards

Use your grammar book to practise translations into French using the section “Translation Practice- English to French”

Year 12

EXAM

Your assessment will last for one hour and will take place as soon as possible during French lessons at HGS in September. You will be required to write an essay (min 350 words) on an aspect of Un Sac de Billes. You will have a choice of two essays.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO TO PRACTISE AND PREPARE FOR THE EXAM

Finish reading the novel
Work through your Un Sac de Billes booklets (available on SMHW) so that you are familiar with each chapter in the novel
Work through the grammar section in the booklet to practise language in the context of a literature essay
Learn off by heart a selection of essay phrases from the booklet so that you can use them in your own essay
Study the grade A exemplar essay and make a list of knowledge of the text and essay phrases that you can use in your own essay
Plan answers to the example essay questions in the final section of the booklet

Your assessment will last for one hour and will take place as soon as possible during German lessons in September. You will be required to write a long essay on Ich liebe Wien (Kapitel 5) (120 words) and a translation into German on the topic of Im Urlaub und zu Hause (Kapitel 6)
