Ex HGS Students in the News

Three Ex HGS Students have recently been making headlines in the news. Adil Ray is on the front cover of the recent edition of Birmingham Living which is Midlands Magazine of the Year. In the cover story article Adil talks about his education at Handsworth Grammar School and his career in the media which sees the fourth series of Citizen Khan being shown on Fridays at 8.30 pm on BBC 1. The next article in the magazine features another Ex HGS Student Alpesh Chauhan who is tipped as the next Sir Simon Rattle. Alpesh was the CBSO’s first conducting fellow and is now the CBSO’s assistant conductor. In this role he has taken on extra responsibility since the departure of the orchestra’s musical director which sees Alpesh conducting across the United Kingdom and Europe – for example in Italy and Germany. Alpesh has said how he knew at Handsworth Grammar School that he wanted to be a conductor. Finally Mason Noise continues his run on the X Factor having moved to the next stage last weekend based on the popular vote. Watch this space!
