Cricket Super 8 Cup Champions

The HGS Year 7 Cricket team beat George Dixon in the Birmingham Schools Super 8 Cup Final at the BTS Cricket ground. HGS scored 63 for 1 wicket, Arjun Toor scored 20 and had to retire and Farhaan Choudhury scored 19 runs. The bowling from HGS was too strong for George Dixon with all the bowlers limiting the number of runs that George Dixon could get. Notably,  Arjun Toor bowled really well with 2 wickets for 1 run and Rayyan Ahmed got 2 wickets for 2 runs. In the field  there were three run outs demonstrating the strong team ethic. George Dixon scored 25 all out. A great team effort and worthy winners.

University of Manchester Computer Competition Success

We received excellent news for two of our Year 9 Computer Science students (Anuoluwa Adeleye and Harjap Bahra) who entered the Animation17 UK Schools Computer Animation Competition with the University of Manchester. 570 students from 102 schools across the UK submitted entries so we are really pleased for them both – their entry has been highly commended by both the BCS eSafety team and Professor Robert Stevens from the University of Manchester Computer Science department. They are the 2017 Key Stage 3 Group Runners Up and were awarded the BCS eSafety Highly Commended status.

Framed certificates and prizes should be with us before the end of term. Well done boys!
